The take away from this pre-planned witch hunt/lynch mob: the county commissioners will try to figure out a way to get along and to work together to prevent this kind of spectacle from reoccurring.
But a word to the employees who attempted to unfairly punish Commissioners Dore and Ross, and who felt emboldened in one another's company.....let's call it what it was: "mob mentality".......you've been duped. Robert Rowland is very clearly the commissioner who continues to embroil our county in legal hot water, to waste taxpayers' money in the courtroom, to fancy himself as some sort of rogue Robin Hood. Beware - he is the single biggest problem in our county government.
We’ve seen this theatrical stunt before. Our beloved leaders get nervous about something ineffectual they’re pushing so they rally the cheerleaders. The Sheriff lines the back wall with uniformed deputies who are not out battling crime. Ed Ehmann enlists underlings from Road and Bridge (roads be damned) to hoot and clap for whatever Captain Eddie is shoveling. This is how “bad” rather than “well considered” policies keep getting made in Elbert County. It’s all a big show designed for the unquestioning dimwitted.
Free speech issues aside, were all these civil servants performing their cheerleading on their own time or are they actually supposed to be on the job. In the latter case the taxpayers are footing the bill for these civil servants “play-acting” their parts for the political bosses. Knowing our local leadership’s operational dishonesty, it’s a sure bet that you and I are paying for their EC Cheerleader Squad. So who were some of the cheer squad this time digging into the voter’s pocketbook? Here are a few notables:
Dallas Schroeder, Shayne Heap, Rick Petit, Keith Westfall, Kyrei Zion, Diana Hiatt, Joanna Sanders, county undersheriff, Brandon Lenderink, Billie Mills, Jenn Grote, Theresa Crowner, Amy Fordyce, Jerri Spear, assistant foreman of road and bridge, Debbie Jones and a couple more from sheriff's office.
